Name: Venugopal Velloli Damodara Panicker

Family Tradition:

Hails from the Most traditional and cultural area of Palakkad district – Ottappalam, and belongs to the below mentioned historically famous families of Kerala, Venugopal has got the heritage of Kalaripayattu.

Kandamangalthu Kalari – The famous Gurukkalachchan trained many kalarippayattu experts in the 1910s. Venugopal’s Father – Kandamangalathu Damodara Panicker is the nephew of Gurukkalachchan.

 Velloli Kalari – From where Kolathiri king used to recruit soldiers. Venugopal’s Mother – Kamalam is from Velloli family.

Dharmothu Panicker (Thamme) Family – Venugopal’s Grand father (Thamme Manaveda Panicker)  is from the famous Thamme family, descent from Thamma Panicker who was the army chief of the great Samoothiri.

Martial arts experience:
Venugopal Velloli has been practicing two different streams of martial arts – Karate and Kalaripayattu for a very long time. He is handling both streams in efficient way to the fullest. He has always been grateful to his masters who helped him to achieve this proficiency. 

KalaripayattuVenugopal Velloli has started practicing Martial arts from 10 years old under Late Sri. Changampalli Muhammed Gurukkal and has been trained in many different styles of Kalaripayattu thereafter.  

Currently he is practicing Kalaripayattu under SRD Prasad Gurukkal – Sreebharath Kalari, Valapattanam, Kannur – in Arapukai style.

KarateStarted practicing Karate under Shihan N.M Thomas and later trained under Kyoshi Lee Ben Seng in Singapore in Shotokan Karate style and taken 1st to 4th dan black belt from this association. Later started practicing traditional okinawan style – Shorin Ryu. Currently conducting Karate classes in Bangalore with affiliations to International Okinawan Shorin Ryu – Kishaba Juku Karate do.
